Caring for the integrity of the world’s major tropical rainforests is an urgent priority. Many of these places are approaching tipping points, where loss of forest cover and biodiversity may become unstoppable. Protecting remaining forests and restoring damaged ones may be one of the most cost-effective things we can do in the struggle to avert catastrophic climate change.

The indigenous peoples of the rainforests are among the last remaining wisdom-keepers of these global treasures. They possess millennia of traditional ecological knowledge. Their leadership and insight are our best opportunities to save these sacred places. Preserving and highlighting their wisdom traditions is another essential priority in our work.

Earth’s Three Green Hearts is an effort to gather scientists, indigenous leaders, ecosystem restoration experts, and rainforest defenders all over the world. Together, we can be most effective in demanding the preservation, healing and restoration of equatorial rainforests. We can leverage our solidarity in seeking grants and other funding. We can coordinate efforts and learn from one another. We must gather to do this work now. Please join us.
